Two more poems for National Poetry Writing Month, published in a batch to not clog my blog!
April 5th:
walking on his hind legs,
he stands just four feet tall;
he strolls along the swampy edge
of the river, webbed feet
squelching in the mud;
his eyes reflect the light
from the phone in his green hand;
it vibrates and he taps on the screen,
the pocket monster that appears
must please him, as he flicks his finger
up, throwing a small red ball,
he catches the little bug creature
and continues to walk along the shore
The prompt for this poem was a mythical creature doing something unusual, so I chose the Loveland Frogman (a local cryptid) playing Pokemon Go. One recent sighting of the Frogman was by a couple playing Pokemon Go in 2016.
April 6th:
hope starts as a seed; it
is tiny and unassuming -
the seed, but the
thing about seeds, is that
with a little love and care,
feathers of green spring from the soil
that grows until a bird
perches
in the heart of the tree, singing
the song from her
soul

The prompt for this poem was to make an acrostic poem that creates a sentence or phrase with the first word of each line. My phrase is the first two lines of Emily Dickinson's poem Hope is the thing with feathers.
