My Head is a Monster

A poem from my creative writing club from the prompts monster and favorite music. I took inspiration from my favorite band Of Monsters and Men and their album titles.

beasts and monsters

dance in my blood,

pulse through my veins;

their claws and horns,

beaks and hooves and wings

push and pull at my skin,

as they race towards my head,

galloping over grayish-pink folds,

painting a fever dream

in my animal brain
