A Different Kind of Sunrise

An unedited poem from Creative Writing Club.

the sun rose over the horizon

spotted with craters,

and illuminated the dusty landscape

of grayish rock.

hundreds of footprints

in the dust

mirrored the craters,

but they might as well

be set in stone

as they will never change.

she traced her footprints

that she followed every morning

to a large crater.

from there

she watched the earth

spin slowly

as different countries woke up

to their sunrises.

she thought of all the people down there -

enjoying the golden light

and chirping birds.

it is lonely on the moon.
